I was convicted in 1999 for a class C felony in Texas for Theft of Service. I was sentenced to probation. In 2005 I was told by my probation officer that she forgot to reinstate me and that I would be off probation. She said I might have to go to court, but I heard absolutely nothing after that and it has been over 5 years since. Recently, I have tried to apply for a few jobs in a different city and the charge is only now coming up. It has been over 10 years, but the background check says that the "Term is unsatisfied" Dated 2005. All of a sudden I can't get a job or apartment and I have had 3 background checks done before and nothing came up. What does "Term unsatisfied" mean and why is it all of a sudden coming up now? Can I fix this at all?

Unless you had some sort of diversion program, your conviction will always show up, The conviction does not disappear off your record merely because you finish your probation.

If you had some sort of diversion program, and it was suppose to be dropped off, you will have to petition the court to do so
