View Full Version : Can you get to the fuel pump through the trunk in an 1991 honda civic

When I drive the car acts like it is running out of gas under half a tank when I pull over it will idle but won't drive live it is running out of gas replaced the fuel fitter and still does it so going to try to change replace a fuel pump but do I have to take the whole tank out

Yes, if you need to replace the fuel pump, the tank needs to be lowered.
That is why you should have the fuel pressure and volume tested properly before you buy a replacement pump.
Any other symptoms?

Civic fuel pumps are rarely faulty, you probably need a tune up or check main relay, spark plugs/wires, fuel filter, change the whole distributor or ICM and coil.
