I used to know a number to dial that would confirm what the phone number is at the land line phone that I am calling from.

Does anyone know if this is still available in the U.S.

Thanks!

Just call your cell ;)

Another way is to directly call the customer service number of a cell phone provider. They usually say the phone number and ask is this the number your calling about.

Ben. I tried that.:
KISS: I have no clue what the provider is.

To make a long story short, I'd like to plug a land line phone into a jack and then call a phone number that confirms what the phone number is at the location where I plugged the phone into.

Years ago I did this many times but since then I've lost the number that I knew that I could call to get the info.

So to clarify: does anyone know the number that one can call (in the US) that will confirm the phone number that belongs to the line that is being used to call from?

The one that works on all phones is 958#

When do you type in 958#?

Dial it like a regular number.

It may not work in your area. It doesn't work in mine. It would be dialed like a regular telephone number. Numbers like *PAY where the letters match the letters on a telco keypad are often used.

What I typed before disappeared.
