Have split system, A/C compressor outside on ground. Runs fine in morning and late evening when temps are cooler, but whenever it's hot outside, it runs for 10-15 minutes then trips breaker. Reset breaker, same thing. When it's cooler outside, it runs just fine. Unit always starts up right away and blows nice & cold. I guess it's about 20 years old. This ONLY occurs when the temperature is really hot outside. What could cause this to happen? (Will post make & model ASAP).

The outdoor coil being dirty causing high head pressure.

Overcharge of refrigerant causing the same.

I would check these items first.
