I had a tummy tuck 2yrs ago, and recently got married. We have thought about having another child but our Doctor informed us that it would be dangerous to me and the baby and also that I am a high risk for having a down syndrome baby, to qoute her @1 in 45 chance of having a down syndrome baby'. I am 42 yrs old, can someone please enlighten me as if it is at all possible for me to have a safe and healthy pregnancy and baby, then we are good to go, but if the risks are against me, well that's OK too, Desperate in Dublin.

Are you saying there's a connection between the tummy tuck and Down Syndrome?
- or have you had genetic testing and that's why your Physician is concerned?

There is a higher risk of downs when the women is over 40, but there's testing that you can have done to determine (with fairly high accuracy) whether your baby has downs before you reach the second trimester. Then it's up to you whether to see the pregnancy through or not.
As for the tummy tuck, I can see why the doctor may be concerned. If your doctor thinks you're high risk, then why risk it?
I guess it really comes down to how badly you want this and what risks you're willing to take to have another child.
