We have a 1500 sq. ft. home with cathedral ceilings in the main room and recessed ceilings in the bedrooms. The main rooms and the master bedroom stay cool with the thermostat set at 76-78 but the two remaining bedrooms are hot. We live in Alabama and the outside temp ranges between 85-100 degrees in the summer. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans. How can I determine the problem in the bedrooms?

Check air flow rate with a meter then calculate proper duct size for the room size.

Did this just happen or has it been a problem from the beginning?

It has been a problem in one room from the beginning. We installed a drop down ceiling fan and it helped some. Now both bedrooms facing west are not cooling like the rest of the house.

Have you/anyone inspected the duct work to assure that everything is connected correctly and you not losing air

Another question, are the bedroom vents working OK in the winter /enough heat?

My son and I inspected the duct work, saw no crimps or openings. Felt no air. The heat works well in the winter, gas heat. We feel air coming out of the vents just doesn't seem to be enough to cool the rooms.
