Just unhooked old electric range-the cables were connected directly to the old stove. I picked up an electric range about 3 yrs old. The connectors on the back of the stove are too small for this large cable.
Do i have to buy one of those pugs with an extension line and then a box to hook heavy cable into? Also-in old stove they had red wire going to a connector but the black in the stove showed-on other connector-where black connected-the inside wire of stove was red! I am confused with what to do!

There are three wires in the range, andthey do not always use building wire color codes. The center wire is the neutral and the two outer are the hots.

Really should install a cord with plug on the range, and have the feeder cable terminate in a receptacle. But connecting the range direct is allowed also.
