We purchased our home in Janesville WI and WE DO NOT WISH TO SELL ! However; we are seniors in our 70's and would like to know what value we have in this home, for life expectancy planning. Please understand that our financial planning is difficult to do if you don't have a value of our assets ! A CALL TO A REALTOR, OPENS US UP TO THE PRESSURE OF SELLING THIS PROPERTY. There must b another way, and we are willing to pay a fair price for the service of a market analysis.

What you really want is a value to your home, so you pay 150 to 250 dollars and hire someone to do a appraisal of your home.
They will review several similar homes that have sold, that are for sale, and some that have not sold, to give you an idea of what the value is NOW.

But how exact do you need to be, and what value, since that value will change in 4 year, or 10 years.
Also do you foresee selling it in 10 years or at some point for a reason ?

Thank You FR Chuck, for your answer to my "knowledgeable" question. AT least it gives me an idea of what an appraisal might cost. I appreciate your time to answer. Hopefully, we do not want to sell now but we feel the outlook of our government screwing up health care, and all the stupid spending and spending will soon force us to pay pay pay.
