Hello.

I am 20 years old, 6ft'2 and weigh 21 stone. I just got back from the doctors today, I had to go because I have an ingrown toe nail which has been a pain for nearly 3 years, and my antibiotics are not effective enough, my doctor suggested weighing me and checking my Body Mass Index which lies at 37% and in the “Obese” zone, I knew I was a fat bastard but didn’t realise to what extent.

There is also a possibility I am diabetic as well and I have a blood test booked for Monday and hope it’s not the case, anyhow….

I am looking to lose weight in a rather speedily manner I work most days and am on my feet, I don’t usually eat much, it is more of a case of losing weight I gained as a kid than anything. I have looked online and I think I could use some Appetite reducing pills and maybe some other pills but they are rather expensive and I am a poor student, I also do not know where to start with dieting and/or exercise, I am not lazy I just have a bad toe, suffer from asthma and regular back ache/problems.

So any advice would be appreciated.

I also am a fussy eater, I don’t like vegetables or many fruits…is there any way I can learn to like them or any psychological therapies (or am I just dreaming) to maybe help me here…

I am supposed to be like 13 stone ( I think ) so need to lose a fair bit…

Regards.

This really works.. all you have to do is buy an egg plant cut it into small pieces then put it in a gallon of water.. http://www.concours-exteriors.com/images/gallon_big.jpg then drink the water do not eat the egg plant.http://www.citysackers.com/images/purple%20eggplant.jpg[IMG] keep doing this for a few times and it should help you loose weight within the first month.. it also helps reduce high cholesterol...

You have to get your diet in order, and no amount of pills or odd substances in water are going to work if you don't do that.

The fact that there's a possibility you are diabetic or heading in that direction makes me think you are carrying a lot of fat around your belly and probably have high blood sugar?

In that case, you must reduce the amount of sugar and refined carbs you eat. Since you have a lot of weight to lose, you need to overhaul your diet rather than just eating brown bread instead of white.

I suggest you cut out all white and refined carbs, particularly sugar, bread (brown and white), pasta, rice, potatoes, cereals and any processed foods.

Base your diet on eggs, oily fish, fresh meat and chicken, lots of green veg (sorry, you'll have to find the ones you like and eat them), olive oil, some dairy, nuts, seeds, small amounts of fruit and wholegrains (porridge).

Learn to eat when you are hungry, and not until you are hungry. Cutting out the sugary foods, especially sodas and biscuits and anything deep fried, will help to reduce rebound hunger.

Open a free account with FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal (http://www.fitday.com) and put in all the food you eat. Every single thing that goes into your mouth. Or download "DiabetesHelp" onto your phone, it also has a huge list of foods, you just put in what you eat and it adds it up for you.

If you want something in pill form, then get a good multi-vitamin, some fish oil, a good cal/mag. CLA does work, but the effects are subtle and long term, measured in years rather than months. Glucomannan (konjac) is good for filling you up before a meal so you eat less at the table.
