Those folks would probably like my UB40 choice. UB40's early stuff was phenomenal. Sadly, they later went the disco/top-40/hip-hop route...

I didn't mention the Doobs, but they're actually my favorite band of all time. That is except for my prison band, "Not Guilty & The Frameups". I couldn't pick a particular album, though. I love 'em ALL.

Loving you, excon! The Doobs were the first concert I ever saw: Saw them in '77 or '78 when I was in 6th grade. Foreigner opened for them in their first tour... and they got booed off the stage.
I might mention also that on that night I first smelled pot. Couldn't help it since everyone was smokin it :)

I like a lot of different types of music. Don't really have those that I would call my "favorites". Perhaps, "preferred" might be a better term. "Best" would depend on who was performing and how it was performed.
Grew up with music from the late 1960's through mid-1970's. Like a lot of pop, rock and jazz. Perform mainly classical, jazz and music having to do with the Christian religion. Have played a lot of gigs...
When by myself, prefer to listen to early types of music and folk...
Here's one.
David Munrow, Early Music Consort Of London, The - The Pleasures Of The Royal Courts (CD) at Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/David-Munrow-Early-Music-Consort-Of-London-The-Pleasures-Of-The-Royal-Courts/release/1744591)

What about Schubert? Nothing like some good string quartets or piano quintets to make the work day go along more joyfully and faster!

Is it parochial that one of my favorites in Classical is "Copland conducts Copland?" American and all that. I thought Independence day was the appropriate time to ask.

Looks to me like that would be listening to music on a wider scope of things, Catsmine!
Copland's about as Americana as the more classically oriented composers get.
Thanks!

Of course you might note a classical influence in even my first nomination. "Brain Salad Surgery" is the only place I've ever found "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" for drums and Moog.

But if you're looking for drums you should go to Iron Butterfly's "Inna Gadda Da Vida."
