I am 21, sexually active (with one person) and am on the pill.

I missed a pill a while back and got my period two weeks early! Then about a week ago I got it again!

My GP said that it was because I missed a pill and that I probably need a new kind, but my OBGYN is out of town. So I'm all caught up and now I have my period again, but it's acting really funny. For instance, one day, I'm bleeding like crazy (not just heavy bleeding, literally POURING blood) and then the next, I'm completely dry, yet cramping horribly. And when I am not bleeding, I have GLOPS of discharge coming out.

I have terrible mood swings and my temper is worse than normal lately. I'm also very tired all the time.

What's going on?

The pill is messing with your hormones. Basically, the pill works by fooling your body into thinking you are already pregnant, so you can't get pregnant again. The break is to allow for a bleed, but it's not a proper period.

So, assuming you are not pregnant (and missing a pill can make it easy to get pregnant), you are experiencing some of the joyful mood swings of pregnancy!

I'd see a family planning clinic or gynne soon, and get a different type.
