I just want to record the event. A nail in the coffin of one more would be Caesar.
Krudd has gone, like Caesar knifed in the caucus by his closest supporters. The rubicon of a tax on mining was just too much for the unions to cross, they pulled out the long knives.

But he did not rise through the ranks of the union movement and the state-branch-based machines and tribes – he did not traverse the road Gillard has travelled all her political life.
That meant he did not have a surfeit of the kind of lasting personal and political alliances that can kick in for a leader when he or she is in trouble...
The national mood for change during the 2007 election year, a highly professional Labor campaign strategy and a tightly disciplined performance by Rudd propelled him to office.
In power, however, Rudd acted like someone who was impregnable,
Sounds like Jimmy Carter and Barak Obama .He was the flavor of the month .
Rudd rode the wave of lefty utopianism on the assumption that 'global warming ' would create a new opportunity to tax .When that fell through he shifted ,much like Obama ,and isolated a sector of the economy to demonize so he could tax them to death.
The Rubicon is a river most of the western nations already crossed when they decided to give 'bread and circus' to the masses without paying for it.The long knives will be unsheathed here November .
(btw long knives is usually associated with Hitler's purging of the SA. The American Indians also called British colonists long knives.Caesar was killed in cloak and dagger fashion )

)
Krudd signalled a shift to the left when he said he would contest the leadership again, he was foolish enough to think he could rule without Gillard's power base, she has been hiding in the shadows for a long time, and was part of every bad decision, I think he was set up by the darling of the right and the unions. The foolishness was doing anything which would affect the unions. These people aren't interested in climate change it is too long term for politicians to grasp a beneftit from. Caesar is dead, all that is needed now is to bury him

Then they'd fit right in and we'd be rid of them. I'm seeing a win - win here.

Was this an angry reaction by the socceroos ? I don't think
K Rudd was taken down by long knives or daggers. He was whipped to death with Vuvuzelas .
Be careful what you wish for .I hear Red Julia the fabian is about as radical as they come despite the trojan horse game she plays. Yeah I know... that was 20 years ago. She's changed from the days of the 'Socialist Forum'.

They are all Fabians, Tom, you don't get to the top of the Labor Party without a secret society or two in your closet. Julia is a very dangerous person, the consummate politician with a power base, she has played the king maker in more than one labor leaders demise. I have always considered her as the last person I would want leading my country. Devious, two faced, without integrity, and with far left tendencies
Try to use recent analysis, that article is ancient

Rudd got us out of the GFC! I liked him... Then again I don't really follow politics.

Hi Aimee
I'm not sure Krudd should actually take credit for doing that, factually we were just lucky our export industries held up. There was a lot of profiteering in the stimulus so the benefit was shared with fewer than it should have been. The stimulus was a disaster of poor governance and financial management and a great deal of political grandstanding. People have poor memories and the give aways disappeared without much benefit to the economy. When all said and done Krudd didn't buy their loyalty and those who knew the true story quickly dumped him when it looked like he couldn't win an election. Same old Labor Party trying to make our decisions for us

And that wasn't far enough away, well we don't want your garbage over here, but you can have Krudd if you like, he's looking for new worlds to conquer
