I am an electrical newbie looking for help. I'm more than willing to hire an electrician, but would like to be better informed as to my options before I do so.

I am in the process of removing my old kitchen and installing a new one with a different layout. As you will see from the photos below, the dishwasher in the old layout is located in the peninsula, which I'm getting rid of. I will be moving my dishwasher close by, to the left of where the sink is.

Before I begin tiling the floor, I need help figuring out how to wire the power to the dishwasher. Right now the wire is coming out of the floor where the peninsula used to be. See photos below. In the new kitchen, the area where the wire is coming through will be covered by tile. Is it acceptable to tile over the wire and still use it? Or would I need to reroute the wire to where the dishwasher will be? My basement is finished, so there's no direct access underneath unless I cut up the drywall ceiling. Is there any way to tap into the power outlet located on the wall above where the dishwasher will be? Right now the dishwasher is on it's own breaker.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Here's some photos with the kitchen removed, showing the dishwasher wire. The photos are a bit deceiving - the wire is coming out from the floor on the left side and then hanging in the air to the right.

What is below this kitchen, is it an open basement or crawl?

Actually, looking more closely in my basement, it seems that my electrical panel is closely located beneath the location of the dishwasher wire. There is a bit of exposed wall just to the right of the panel, but the rest of the wall where the panel is has drywall all around it.

So the dishwasher wasn't plugged in, it was hard wired? The plumbing is OK, correct? I would pull a few nails and cut out part of the floor to re-install the wire where you need it. It looks to me that one cut would allow you to remove enough sub flor to relocate the wire.

Agree, you can go through the floor in the new location but I can't say for sure what is the story with the finished ceiling. It may require some patching depending on the exact location.

After removing flooring, remove any staples that are holding wire.

Shut off main power and remove wire from circuit breaker. Take it out of panel box. After removed from panel box u can turn main on.

From in the kitchen, see if u can pull wire. Do not pull too much. If wire moves, tape new wire to old wire and pull it up. Do not make taped connection to large for it may have to go through a beam.

Leave enough wire in kitchen and at panel for hooking up at new location.

Good luck
