Hiya, I have an advent 7003 laptop, and a lovely little child that decided to play with it, and knocked it off a chair onto the floor, there seems to be no external damage, but now the screen won't come on, and the keyboard does not work, when I turn it on, the power light comes on, the fan works, but I get no beeps, I put a disk into the drive and I could hear that working, I tried pressing num lock, caps lock, but they do not work, so I'm presuming the keyboard does not work. Any help would be appreciated, thankssssss

Very often with notebooks, the processor and memory modules can become easily unseated. If you have access to these items, try removing and re-installing. Take care that the processor has a solid seating with heatsink grease if it has any. Occasionaly you will find alumminum pieces without grease. If you have no grease, and the processor does have it (white goop) use a piece of small plastic to re-collect the grease into a pile in the center of the processor, then replace the heatsink. DO NOT OVER TORQUE THE SCREWS ON THE HEATSINK! If you pop one, your notebook may be hopeless... hope this helps.

I would try connecting to an external monitor if you have one available. Just plug in a desktop monitor into the 15 pin connector on the back of the laptop. Then try to boot up and see what happens. There is a good chance the fall damaged your display.

Good Luck
