I have an outlet that is located on the outside of my house. I was plugging something into a hanging light that received power from the outlet. When I was plugging something in I heard a pop a saw a spark at the outlet. The outlet is now dead and I am looking for help to get the outlet working. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Does the receptacle have two small buttons, one test one reset? You shorted out so check your fuse box or breaker panel. Being an outside receptacle its likely a GFCI breaker or outlet

Seek professional help!!
You may have a short in your wiring somewhere, and probably need the outlet replaced. It is probably a good idea to have someone experienced to have a look at it to avoid fire hazards.

No need for a pro at this point. Let mjuliana look for the breaker and then reset and try a different something to plug in. DIYers like to find their own fix. If we called an electrician every time a breaker pops they drive the Benz and we won't

Ballenger-
It does not have the test/retest buttons and the breaker was not tripped so we are kind of at a loss right now... any other suggestions? Otherwise we might be paying for a professional.. I am guessing there needs to be some new wiring to be done!
