Does anyone else think that sewing machines should have their own category?

Not really. Most questions we get about sewing machines are asking if a particular one is an antique. That fits in the antique category.

The rest of the questions, which are very few and very far between, all fit in crafts or other categories.

There's no need to start a new forum for 2 to 3 questions each year when there are other forums that these questions fit in.

If we did that, we'd have 1000's of forums.

Hi, unluckynut!

That would probably be a good idea, since there have been a lot of questions about them that wind up in Appliances, Collectibles, Crafts and Furniture forum topic areas.

The difficulty would be in deciding which forum topic area where questions about them would be a good sub-category. My choice would be for under Crafts. But, most of the questions about sewing machines have seemed to have been about the value of them. So, Collectibles might be another good choice.

Maybe there could even be two categories, one under Crafts and the other under Collectibles? Maybe they could be titled "Sewing Machine Issues" under Crafts and "Sewing Machine Values" under Collectibles?

Good question that you've asked here?

Thanks!

No I do not think that it should have its own category. The categories and sub categories would just be endless if there was not a limit on them.

Also there is not enough demand for sewing machines, and to be honest there are other categories that would cover sewing machines under them.

Nice suggestion though.

Having a category for sewing machines would be like having forums for every different animal in the pets section. There comes a time when you have to be content that there are other categories that serve the purpose of the question being asked.

There just aren't enough questions about sewing machines, and there are more then adequate forums for the questions that are coming in.

Just my opinion.
