Hello , I just recently bought a hot tub, It called for a 50 amp 6-3 wire with 50 ampl gfi sub panel. I ran the 6-3 wire sealed into the Electrical conduit , brought the wire into the house, wired everything up , and when I turn the breaker on ( in the House) then turn the breker on ( on the subpanel, the subpanel trips. I've wired the 50 amp breaker in the house as follows.
Red on top of double breaker
Black on bottom of double breaker
White , on White Buss Panel
Ground , On Ground Buss Panel
On the GFI sub Panel, It is wired as follows
Black ( from house ) into top screw of GFI Breaker
Red ( from House ) on Red Buss in sub Panel
White ( from House ) to White Buss in Sub panel
Ground (from house ) to ground Buss in Subpanel
Black ( from Spa) to Bottom Screw ( black) on GFI Breaker
White ( from Spa) to White on GFI under white pigtail on GFI breaker
Red ( from Spa ) to Red Buss In sub Panel
Ground ( from Spa ) to ground Buss in Subpanel.
The White pigtail that is attached to the Breaker is attached to the White Buss
Everything looks fine, But When I juice it up the breaker trips, I've tried Taking the " load " off the breaker by disconnecting the Spa and it still trips I have 10o Amp service in my house , and the 6-3 total run from house to sub panel to spa is about 48 feet any sugestions? Dave
