Got my shed almost completed but I'm stuck on installing soffit. My eave and rake overhang is 12". On the eaves, I plumbcut the rafter tails because I wanted the soffit (plywood) to be level. I'm just not quite sure what to do where the eave end meets the gable. The eave soffit will be level but the gable end soffit will be running at the same pitch as the roof (5/12). How should I make these two points converge?

Also, I kind of wish I would NOT have plumb cut my rafter tails. It would have been a lot easier nailing the soffit to the rafters at the angle they are.

Plumb cut is perpendicular to ground. This is where the fascia board is nailed.

The seat cut would be perpendicular to wall. This would be for nailing level soffit.

There are 2 ways to finish soffit end. U can run soffit out the 12 inches and install a wedge shaped piece of pine at end, under rake board. And cap the back.

2nd way is to stop the soffit at end of building and finish soffit end with pine or siding. The freeze board( piece of pine butting up to soffit bottom) will wrap the corner and tie everything together.

Both ways are acceptable.
