So there is this guy (Derrik) who used to be my lab partner. At first I was not into him at all. He smelled of pot and was just disgusting to me. Though he seemed persistent on making me his friend. Every morning he would walk into the class and say "Hey best friend". Then I really can't tell you where we became friends, but it out of nowhere we were giving each other a lot of hugs. One day this guy in our class said that Derrik really liked me in front of everyone and Derrik was all like "I do not" but I knew he was lying. Then everyone was coming up to me or texting me that I should give him a chance. So I knew it wasn't going to be serious so I started to get to know him and found out some things that really made my heart melt like his mother died when he was really young and the reason he always smelled like pot was because it was his dad. Somewhere I began to really like him. Then this girl started to ruin it because we really hated her so she would do stuff to ruin it between us. So one day he called me and said that the girl said that I liked him and wanted to know if it was true. Instead of coming right out and telling him yes, I said, "I heard you liked me, is that true?" And he said "A little, you"and I said I did. Then he said we had to be friends and I didn't know why. Out of know where he started to distance himself from me, and I went really crazy on him and I think I scared him away and he told one of my friends that he just wanted me to leave him alone. So I have and I really want the guy that was my best friend back, before all of the feelings got in the way. How do I do that? And do you think you have an idea as to why he just shifted away from me? PLEASE HELP!

Why don't you just talk to him, tell him how you feel. He will either accept it or not.

We don't have the answers. He has the answers. I would say, suck it up and go up to him or call him to talk it out.

If he still ignores you after you confront him, then you're just going to have to leave him alone. You can't force him to talk to you.
