I have what I think is about a 35 foot red maple tree (green leaves in summer and red when season change in fall) in my front yard. Some of the root system is on the surface and within 3' of our house. I'm afraid of the root system damaging the foundation wall and would like to remove some of them closest to the house. Will removing them do serious damage to the tree? What about the possibility of weakening the root system and stability? We live in Harrisburg PA. I would like any input you have and thank you in advance.
