About 90% of the time it is the back of the motor where the control is that is bad not the motor. What brand unit?

Check the item where the finger is pointing. If burnt or chared replace. This is the major cause of ECM motor failure.

A friend of mine has them available at Zebra and at many HVAC supply shops. See ECM devices.

He also has a surge protector for the ECM motors. I recommend these parts since I know they work. You could say I did a bit of work on these and some in the HVAC trade might not be happy since these parts are about 15.00 instead of 1000.00 for the assembly.

Now if you really want to know how it all works or testing here is a sample right of the tool box.

SEE ECM service guide for download.
