Here is my story... back in 2005 I agreed to pay someone money on a commission when she was fired for fraud, through the company we worked for. She handed me the client, and asked for money on the side. I do not recall whether we came to an agreement on the amount, but we agreed something would be done about the commission. We had gone into business together, and even before that I had offered to work something out with her, but she said it didn't matter to her anymore. About 2 or 3 months into opening our business, which was about 5 months ago she made it a VERY big deal about that prior money situation, saying she never trusted me, that I am a dishonest person, and so forth. So, in hopes of SAVING our business, I signed a receipt for 1500$, which is outragous but I figured what is 1500$ compared to my career. I thought it would beok after that... :sigh:... well here we are, not business partners anymore, not even friends. She is threatening to take me to small claims, and has thorughout the entire dividing of everything, been rude and making mention of attorneys. I just want to know what my rights are, after signing that receipt.. if I chance to win in court? I just know that is not what I agreed to.. I felt forced and pushed against the wall to sign.
Thank you for listening, and I really need the advise.

She has a written document from you stating that you owe her $1500. Unless you can prove that document was signed under duress or otherwise show you don't own her the money, then she can take you to court and win.
