I have an account with Desert schools credit union and Bank of America has frozen my account due to checks that original payor saying they did not authorize those checks. Can BoA do this legally?

It depends. I'm not real clear on what went down here. It sounds like someone is saying that checks were written against some account that you were an authorized signator on. But that those checks were not authorized.

This could make it a criminal case which would mean the state as frozen the funds, not BofA. If it's a civil case, then BoFA had to first get a judgement that was served on the CU.

In either case, the CU would not allow a freeze unless a court order was legally obtained. You have a right to see a copy of that court order, the CU has one or you can go to BofA.

But what concerns me more is the reason you list. Like I said, that could be consider criminal embezzlement. So you could be arrested.

I strongly suggest you contact a lawyer to help you untangle this. For us to provde any further help we need more details of what is behind the freeze.
