HELP!
Whirlpool Direct Drive (~20 years old)
1. Agitates fine
2. Fills/Drains fiine
3. Spin cycle - increased noise with increase in speed, ultimately very noisy and sounds like there some sort of popping that momentarily reduces the speed of the spin
4. If I hold the agitator from spinning with the tub, then no noise the spin is fine
5. If I release the agitator, the noise returns with the popping.
6. The popping should like if I let it go on long enough something surely will break...

I was told it most likely might be my gearbox (transmission) is going out..
