My friend has a 97 civic. He has replaced the distributor with all interior parts. The starter, and battery. He called me and said that it wouldn't start. I checked the car and he had a weak spark whick I checked. The distributor cap points were corroded to we bought a new one. Car fired up but then drove it for about 2 min and then shut off. There is spark and there is fuel at the fuel rail.

Was it a genuine Honda distributor? Over 50% of new aftermarket distributors for Hondas have not worked at AMHD.

I don't think so because we went to autozone where he bought the distributor, but if it was bad would he still have spark

Yes. We have had many such instances, even from distributors for Hondas from AutoZone. They can't seem to get the internal sensors right--the aftermarket ICMs and coils are fine, however. All of these distributors have sparked--they just don't spark at the proper time.

OK ill let him know. He called me not too long ago and said that it will start occasionally and will rev the engine but if he drives it, it will turn off. Thanks
