Goodman 2 1/2 ton quit the other day. Just popped the breaker.
Replaced with another 30 amp not fixed.
Disconnected the supply side power at contactor and breaker did not pop had 240v
Reconnected to contactor at supply side, disconnected power out at contactor got 240v at the out side but only when contactor is energized, I assume this is how it should work.
Next, reconnected only the two wires going directly to compressor, disconnected the wire that goes through the capacitor and back to compressor and bingo, breaker popped.
Am I correct in my assumption that this is going to be a dead short in the compressor. Please tell me I am wrong. (but only if I am)
