I have a 12 year old heating and AC unit which has not been serviced since 2002 (my stupidity). The blower has been very loud since turning on the AC this year. Yesterday it stopped making such a loud noise and yet still seemed to be running perfectly. Last night, however, it started making a train-like chugging noise when the blower was running. I have an HVAC person coming out Saturday 6/12, but was wondering if it would be safe to run the unit - maybe less frequently - until then (1 week). I asked the HVAC company and they said they would not run it. I'm wondering if they are punishing me for not keeping up my maintenance contract with them! LOL!
