You would be considered to be starting your sixth month of pregnancy once you hit 22 weeks. Often pregnancy is dated from your last period... this gives the gestational age in weeks. This provides a window of time for what is considered a normal length of pregnancy... 38-42 weeks (many now consider 37 weeks as term). Forty weeks is what your due date would be, but few babies actually are born on their due date. This will obviously vary from woman to woman.

It can get confusing as some months of pregnancy will have 4 weeks and some will have 5 weeks. In all, you are actually pregnant for about 10 months instead of 9... :)

Using weeks of pregnancy, instead of months, is a more accurate way of stating how far along you are partly because as baby develops more, a matter of days can make a tremendous difference.
