My hamster, Fuzzball, is around 4 1/2 years old. He has a funny bump on the left side of his tummy. It doesn't really have any hair on it, but it doesn't have any yellowish color like a scent gland would. I tried doing some research but couldn't find anything similar! I'm not sure if it's a tumor or what... thanks so much! Let me know if you want me to post a picture, too! :)

P.S. Fuzzball is a mix between a robo and a dwarf hamster, so this bump is really weighing him down! :(

He has been eating and pooping normally. I'm also not exactly sure when he got this bump... sorry! The bump smells, too!

Yea a picture might help! But it kind of sounds like it might be a tumor, but looking at it would help too.

4 1/2 years old! Wow!

Hamsters are very susceptible to tumors. If it is cancer then not much can be done.

Have you considered the vet?

Okay, I'll get a picture up asap! I really think that it wouldn't be worth while to take him to the vet, because of the cost and he's really old so...

I always advocate going to the vet, but in this case I totally understand.

There's not much a vet could do anyway. If it is cancer, then the treatment would be very costly, and would most likely end in death anyway. Is it worth putting an old hamster through the treatment? I wouldn't.

A picture might help, but I really think that at this point, you need to make him comfortable, and prepare that he's old, he may be sick, and this may be the end.

Just enjoy the time you have, make sure he's not in pain. That's the best you can do.

If you can't get the images above to work, go to photobucket.com and search for ckvietok's pictures. There are three pictures of Fuzzball in my album!

ImEric.

I've noticed that you're hopping from one pet thread to another, posting advice that's already been given on older threads.

It's really not necessary to post if that answer has already been provided. It's definitely not okay to post on older threads, it just bumps them back to the top, and unless you have new information, or the OP has something to add, bumping them is not okay.

Please read the rules of the site, and please refrain from the above activity.

Thank you.
