What do F, v_1 and v_2 mean for instance?

This appears to be an F-distribution with degrees of freedom {\nu}_{1}=5 and {\nu}_{2}=9

That is not a v, but the Greek letter nu which resembles a v.

Looking in the F table for {\alpha}=.05, the value for 5 and 9 d.f. is indeed 3.48. I just looked.

I do not know what the poster is asking for, unless it is alpha (level of confidence)
