Poor construction practices are not usually covered by insurance. You can ask but frequently , if you ask the adjuster or claims rep, you will get no answer unless you say you are filing a claim. This goes againist you even if they do not cover the issue, which I dubt they will. How old is this and who did the work?

Hi - This is my parent's home. It seems that they purchased property when it was 12 years old ( that make sthe property 36 years old) and no BRACES have been put in at all in the roof structure. LEECH was the builder as new, and the company still exist. Not looking hopeful unless Leech are liable?

What was the building code at the time, Did they have permits ( if required then) did building inspector OK it.

When did they first notice it ?

But unless it is caused by one of the covered reasons, insurace does not cover poor or improper construction.

Your only hope is to prove Leech did not follow code but even that is a stretch after 36 years. I have seen proper construction fail in 36 years.
