View Full Version : How do I correct the brassy red/orange tone left over from One & Only ColorFix?

My stylist turned my med blonde/brown hair Espresso. I used One & Only ColorFix this morning and now my hair is brassy red/orange. I can live with this over the dark chocolate brown... however, I'd like to fix it.

I want to end up with a light brown color.

Would I use an Ash medium blonde to achieve a light brown and get rid of the brassy red/orange tone?

I've read that after color lifting that you should go 1-2 shades lighter as your hair will grab the dye and it will darken again. Would a ash medium blonde be the best choice?

Thanks very much.

Additional question. Besides the ash brown color perhaps being a solution to my brassy red/gold hair..

I was at Sally's today and they told me to use Ardell Red Gold Color corrector in a light brown dye (any dye is fine) and it will remove the red gold and give me a light medium brown tone.

I bought the little .25 oz liquid packet but how much would I use?

Is it better to go with the ash tone dye...

Or is it better to try the brown with the Red Gold color corrector added?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem and after searching the internet I have gained some insite, you can use the ardell red gold colour corrector and the ash brown dye together, its better to use ash based dyes rather than just brown because ash is used specifically to eliminate orange/red tones. I read somewhere to use 15 drops of the Ardell red gold colour corrector because if you use too much it can make your dye go darker resulting in a darker colour, also when adding the colour corrector it will make your dye look darker, but don't be alarmed by it, it is normal for that to happen. Hope this helps and good luck I know exactly what it feels like to have a hair crisise, I'm planning on dying my hair light ash brown using Ardell Unred packet as my hair has went a brownish ginger colour, NOT GOOD
