Hello,
I have a Ruud furnace and I want to check my blower motor by applying 120v directly to the motor. The motor has five wires red, black, brown, white and blue, which wires should I plug into the receptacle red and black? When I set the tstat to fan or auto, all I get is a buzzing sound from the motor. I have replaced the run capacitor to no avail.

Thanks

Plug the black into the hot side of the receptacle and the white into the neutral side. That sets the motor to high speed. To try low speed set the red wire instead of the black wire. Make certain that the other wires are either TAPED OR SOMEHOW SAFE FROM GROUNDING. We don't want you or the motor getting fried.
