Well I have a domestic well with bladder tank.presure switch is 30/50 does operate correctly. My problem is that once the tank fills, which takes about 5-6 minutes. But once you turn any water on the pressure starts at 50 and once it gets to 30lb the pump comes on,but the tank emptys and the pump still running the pressure drops and puts very little water out.if you turn water off the tank fills again after 5-6 min.then shuts off at 49-50 lb.turn water on and it does the same thing all over again.

Sounds like you are getting very little volume from your pump. Try this. Once the pump gets to 50# and cuts off, run water from a garden hose into a 5 gallon bucket. See how much water you get before pressure gets to 30# and the pump cuts on. Let's assume it is 5 gallons. Time how long it takes to pump back up to 50#. Let's assume it's 5 minutes. That would mean you are only getting about one gallon per minute from your pump. You will not be satisfied with that.

A few questions:

1. Is your pump in the well or above ground?
2. What size tank do you have?
3. When water is not being used, does the system hold pressure?
4. About how old is the pump?

OK. Do the test I described and let us know what you find out.

The pump is five years old. Has it been doing this for all that time, or is this recent? Also, is your wellpipe plastic, copper, or galvanized?
