Hello,

I'm a high school senior and my girlfriend is a junior. We have been together for 6 months, in which I think I have been more sad than happy. She has a very bad temper and gets mad for little things. Often when she gets mad she ignores my texts and calls for hours, even after I have explained how sorry I am. 2 weeks ago, I decided it was enough , that I needed to respect myself and told her I wasn't sure if I was going to be happy with her. Not only because of her bad temper but also because of her view of life ( She does not want to go to college, all she wants is to have fun). We had a long conversation and she acknowledged she needed to change her attitude. We decided to take a break but it didn't even last a day as we missed each other so much. The next week was wonderful, no fights. Until today, she is very mad at me right now because I commented on a photo of us that her girlfriend uploaded on Facebook. She is very jealous of her girlfriend and this has always been a source of trouble for our relationship. She argues that I know how she feels about her friend and why I keep doing things that I know will get her mad. I've told her that I just commented a photo and getting mad because of that is irrational.

This situation to me is rather funny and immature. I don't see any sense in this.

My question is :

I'm starting college in August. I don't think I can deal with the stress she causes me and college. Is this normal in a relationship? All this drama for pointless things?Should I leave her? When do I know it is time to say good bye?

When you have had enough and want no more. Then you break up, and do your own thing. Geeez guy, people are who they are and you accept them for that, or you don't. Not a big deal, just a bunch of feelings to deal with.

Nope - all the stress in your relationship is NOT normal. You should be having fun, not having to defend everything you do and having to answer to her bad attitude.

You really should move on and have fun at college without her. :)

I think a lot of people break up when they go off to college. Not sure if it is because of the same reason as yours, but if you give this as a reason, it's a pretty legitimate one. Makes a lot more sense than any of my break ups ever did.

She sounds needy. I'm surprised you haven't broken up with her before due to too much stress and the demands her feelings place on you. One of my friends was like that... but she eventually broke up with the guy who was taking care of her... they weren't in college. This was way after she graduated from college.
