Hey everyone.. I am 31 weeks this week and so ready for this baby to be out! I am scheduled for a c-section July 27th, but I was talking to my mid wife at my last appointment and we were talking about my daughter who came early and she said that there is a very good chance that this baby will also. I was wondering what the possibility actually is. I know every pregnancy is different. But I am just curious. My daughter was born at 36 weeks , my water broke on its own at home and then my contractions started.. I was in the hospital for 14 hrs and I never dilated.. not even 1 cm , so they did an emergency c-section. I was wondering if my water does break on its own what is the likely hood that ,that would happen again. My mid wife was telling me that if I did go into labor before my c-section , that they would give me the choice of whether I wanted to push him out or have a c-section. I would love to not have the long stay in the hospital after a c-section , but I don't want to go into labor and go through 14hrs again and have nothing happen. Has anyone ever been there before? What are the chances?

Has she done any sort of exam to determine if your cervix is starting to show early signs of preparing for labor? In most cases, unless you had a history of early labors, there is no way to know for sure... it is speculation.

Some women will naturally have shorter pregnancies than others... this is usually determined to be a potential pattern for future pregnancies if there have been a few early births, not just the one. (Some women will also naturally have longer pregnancies than the norm without incident).

You could go early, or you could very well not go into labor until 41 weeks or so if left to go on your own.

If you went into labor early again, and you chose to try a VBAC, they would give you a time limit for changes to be happening and if no results, they would do another c-section.

Either way, you know you will have your baby by the end of July... :)
