Does the father know the child exists?

Is the father's name on the child's birth certificate?

Right now you have sole custody of the child. At any time though the father can file for visitation or joint custody.

If he wants to see the child he has a perfect right to see and financially support the child.

If the father is not on the birth certificate you have sole custody until at least the father files for a custody hearing.

But if you want to you file for custody though the court and should also file for child support

Please pay more attention to posting guidelines> There is a read first sticky in the Parenting forum (where this was moved from) that directs questions of a legal nature to this forum.

You cannot revoke a father's rights, only a court can. And a court will only revoke those rights to clear the way for adoption or if the father is a danger to the child.

A court isn't just going to take his rights without some sort of proof that he is a danger to the child. Unless of course you are married and that man wants to adopt and the bio-father is willing to allow the adoption. Have you gone to court for custody yet? If not that would be your first step as well as getting an order for support. If he wants an order for visiation that is up to him and the court will order it unless of course you can prove that he is a danger to the child.
