Okay, so I am 14 years old and I was caught trying to steal a $50 head phones from zellers. It was me and my one other friend,15, who was caught. They took us to the back of the room, cops came and gave me a court date. Here comes the problems/questions...

Do I need to get a lawyer? I don't think so because it is my first offence and I can get off easily... right?
What do I need to do/say in court?.

Like I really feel stupid for doing that... and I regret it. I don't want to ruin my llife and career opportunities because of a criminal record at such a young age. Will it be on my permanent record?

And umm I heard that I won't need to go to jail for this.. the judge will just gimme warning and let me free? That's what I heard...

Someone pleease help me. I really need it. Its my first time in this situation.

I am an academically skilled student and I live in Toronto, Ontario if that helps.

Thanks

These are choices for your parents to make, normally no, it will not just be a warning and let go, often probation, fine and paying civil penalties to the store. ( all of which your parents will be held liable for.

Also the courts will look at things like family life, your attitude
( don't seem very sorry to me here) and what action or reaction your parents had
