I was put on Cardizem for tachycardia & moderate Raynaud's... 3 days after I developed severe bruising (mostly of the lower extremities). I went for bloos work to rule out a severe thrombocytopenia reaction.. that was negative. I needed to have a biopsy of one of these bruises & it showed no active vasculitis (which the cardiologist thought) but perivascular inflammation . Can anyone explain what that is exactly to me? Thank YOu for your time! Jill

The prefix "peri-" means around, vascular is just what it sounds like - pertaining to a blood vessel. And, well I am sure you know what inflammation is. So, to put that all together:

Inflammation around the blood vessels. Unfortunately, that is as far as I am educated on this particular condition at this time. Maybe your cardiologist can clear it up even further.

Hope this helped a little bit.
