I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan 52" and even though is a 3 speed fan, only one speed is working. On the lowest speed, the blades don't move but you can feel on the chain that the motor is on. Can the part of the speeds be changed, where to buy the part and can it be done as DO IT YOURSELF?

How old is the fan? Maybe the capacitor needs to be replaced?

Do the blades spin freely by hand?
