Hi, I seem to have a midi problem and its driving me mad:mad:

I have my keyboard (Yamaha PSR-160) connected via a midi cable to the game port... Im using a few different midi programs to test this on and none of them work

I have a Sound Blaster live! Platinum, The sound plays back OK if I click the keys on screen but my real keyboard doesn't do anything.

I have also instaled a C-Media Sound card... this is having exactly the same problem.

The midi cables are connected the correct way etc... I don't know if there's something I'm missing or if there is a fault somewhere.

Any help would be much apreciated.
TIA :)

Try turning up input volume on your device or on the volume panel (Windows: programs>accessories>entertainment>volume control)

Otherwise I'm not sure.

No the volumes up.

Usually when I press a key on the physical keyboard the virtual one will copy what I do... but it doesn't so I don't think its comunicating atall.

Haha Yes it is deffinatly pluged in!

I think its either down to the keyboard or the midi cable I might try one of those USB Ones and see how it goes. They seem awfully expencive for what they are though.

Do you have an ammeter? You should be able to check connections in the wire.

That's a good point, any idea what pins I would be looking for?

Erm, well each end you should be able to check the connecting of the same pins on each end
