View Full Version : 2002 ford escape transaxle?

Just bought a 02 ford escape, took word from owner, said it only needed fuel pump, replaced it and fuel filter got engine running fine, then put it in gear , would not move , has reverse , it works fine! but found out it sat for almost a year, backed it around yard a little , then put in drive, it acts like it starts to move a little then nothing no noise coming from it. Pulled the pan thinking that filter might need replaced but don't see one does it have a filter, one person said it doesn't have 1, another said its located in the rear where it bolts up to engine? Any clues? Also the overdrive light is blinking on and off , someone said it could be a sensor , but no engine light is coming on? Ahhh need help, I think I made a $4700.00 mistake, escape is in awsome condition ,except for tranny.

Transaxles are the weak link in all FWD vehicles. Sounds like your's is toast. The outfit below is well-regarded and may be able to help:
