Is there a usual right to vacation in Canada? I thought I read somewhere that each parent gets 2 weeks with child, and 2 weeks without the child in Canada. Now I cannot find link to that info. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance. Please provide link for ex.

More questions here... where is your permanent residence?
If you are in the USA it does not matter whether you will go to Canada or to Afghanistan

There are no cookie cutter visitation arrangements. Everybody's family is different. In fact, SOME parents don't get time with their kids at all.

So, the only place to read about what YOUR arrangements are, is the divorce decree. If you don't HAVE one of those, I'd get one. If you do, read it.

If you don't have one, you're equally entitled, as your spouse is, to travel with your children anywhere on the planet, and for as long as you please.

Divorce decree does not specify vacation time only access. Residence and divorce is in Canada.

Each parent should have vacation time with the children.
In the USA divorcing parents must have a written plan outlining:

* Where the child will live
* Non-custodial parent visitation
* Who will make parenting decisions and how
* Child's holiday and vacation schedules
* How vacation time is split between parents
If it wasn not written on your divorce decree that you have vacation time then you may violate your ex's rights.
You /and your ex/can add vacations to the schedule by actually scheduling dates for each parent to have vacation time, you can put an unspecified vacation clause in the custody agreement. The unspecified vacation says that each parent can have the children for up to so many days during the year for a vacation provided they give notice to the other parent.
