My dog who is a small to medium size cross breed has been showing signs of an UTI excessive drinking and little puddles while she is asleep. Took her to the vets and she was put on Trimacare 80mg 1 daily for 8 days. After finishing the tablets we had a week where everything was back to normal, then the excessive drinking and puddles returned 4-5 a day. Once again back to the vets a urine sample was dip-tested and all clear so have put her on Incurin 1mg 1 daily for incontinence. She was spayed at about 6 months and is now 4yrs and had no signs of incontinence before original urine infection. The Incurin has shown no signs of doing anything and has been taking them for 5 days now. I'm not sure what to do as not sure it is incontinence feel that probably urine infection but vet is pushing for blood tests kidney scans and dye injected x-rays where I wonder if a urine sample is sent off for cultivation it may still be an infection apart from this she is eating fine happy and eager to still go on her daily walks any advice would be great

I'll not advise you to disregard your vet. Did you have a specific infectious organism before the first treatment confirmed? Have you asked about culturing the urine?
A second opinion before additional expenses is always prudent.

There are many other illnesses that have symptoms like yours. Some serious some not so. How long had she had the UTI before it was treated? Any other history of bladder infections?
If you feel the blood tests are un warranted, talk to your vet. Ask them about urine cultures, and you can always get a second opinion from another vet. Spay incontinence is quite common in small female dogs.

Has your vet checked for diabetes ? Excessive drinking and urination is one of the signs.

Hi thanks for all your replies it was about 3 days before she went to the vets and never had a problem like this before have spoken to the vets again today and requested a urine sample to be sent away and they don't want to do this want to do all sorts of tests. I have spoken to another vets surgery explained everything to them and they have said that they wouldn't even consider doing those tests until a urine sample has been sent off for cultivating. We are off to the new vets this afternoon so will let you all know more later thanks again for your replies

Your vet should be able to do the "cultivating" better known as a urine culture. It's quite simple actually.
However, if bacteria is not seen under a microscope, it may not be an infection of the urinary tract.
I was wondering diabetes as well as excessive thirst is one of the first symptoms.

Was the urine ever looked at under a microscope? That may be able to tell if there's anything brewing. If there was bacteria seen and the antibiotics didn't work, send it off for a culture to see if the tricky buggers are resistant to what your dog is on.
