I have a pomapoo and he didn't shed at all until about 5 months. Now the hair has been coming out like crazy and he looks very spotty. I am wondering if he is losing his puppy coat or is it possible he is a shedding dog now. I was hopefull when he didn't shed at all the first 5 months. Any advise on shedding and coat difference in pomapoos would be helpful. Thanks

I am assuming a Pomapoo is a cross between a Pomeranian and a poodle? If so, what type of fur does it have? Pom fur or more like hair (like a poodle)?
Daily grooming and proper diet is the best thing you can do for shedding.

Pom's generally shed, poodles generally don't. It's a game of russian roulette when you mix the two.

I know you would realize that a Pomapoo is not actually a breed but rather just a cross-bred.
With any cross bred it's a 50/50 chance the dog will inherit characteristics from the poodle.
Sounds like you puppy inherited to pomeranian coat.
The bulk of the shedding usually happens over a month or so. During this time your dog will appear patchy and have some sections of fluffy hair and some sections smoother.
You can aid in removing the dead hair by buying a slicker brush. This is a metal pin brush, usually rectangle in shape and each individual pin on the brush has the ends bent over the aid in grabbing the fur.
