We live in the UP of MI and we got full gaurdanship of our 2 grandsons age 4 and 2. We want to adopt them where do we go for help and is there a reduce rate or free legal help for this.
We want the boys to have a nice safe envorment and a loving and secure home The father can not even call the kids when he is soppose to and well my daughter is bi-polar and is homeless. Please help us:)

You cannot adopt without the written consent of both parents, no matter what the situation is.

You need to get a lawyer, and you do need to either prove that BOTH parents are completely unfit or get them to willingly relinquish their rights.

As far as reduced rate or free legal help--you would have to check with lawyers in your area to find out if they offer those services.

Synnen is correct and I stand corrected - in my State (NY) adoption can be accomplished if CPS or a similar service takes action against the parents and the parents lose all rights.

It doesn't happen often (usually, for whatever reason, one parent or the other shows up and begs for another chance) but it does happen.
