This is referring to chickens raised for egg production. In order to achieve a high consistency level, the farm ensures that uniform conditions are applied in raising all chickens. The weight of an eff is denoted by X measured in ounces.

What is P(x=3)?

If each carton has 12 eggs, and each empty carton weighs 2 oz, let W denote total weight with 12 eggs inside.
W~?

Now suppose the weight of an empty carton isn't constant. The RV Y~N(2, 0.1^2)
Using the same conditions... W~?
