Hello,
My wife taken chest x-ray due to asthma(TB early stage) as directed by the physician, when she is carrying a 7 months old foetus.
Is this chest x-ray causes autism or any impact to my 16 months old child?

Now my kid is 16 months old and she is very active when playing/eating/imitating our actions except she is not talking compared to other kids of the same/less age. She is doing sounds like aa, ba,e, ma etc. and not concentrating to listen when teaching to her. She observes well and recognizes us (dad and mother), but she can't say dad till date.

Regards,
sk

No, this will not cause autism. Also, most likely, your wife's abdomen was covered with a lead apron when the x-ray was taken.

Chidlren all learn at a different pace. Just because one child is not talking in full sentences when another of the same age is, this is not cause for concern. You need to stop expecting her to listen and concentrate when trying to teach her. A baby of this age does not have the brain capacity to understand to sit still and concentrate.

All you need to do at this point is repeat the words over and over that you want her to say. Don't expect her to do this overnight, it will take weeks or even months. Once she starts talking you won't get her to be quiet. Trust me, not only am I a nurse, but a mother of 4.
