I'm 6' 215 lbs. I just started working out. What should I be doing? I'd like to loose 20 lbs, tone up, build arms and chest, and be able to see my abs.

Start with running. Either on a treadmill or outside. If you want to see where your at try doing a 5K (3.1 miles), time yourself then do it again every 3 months. If you are trying to build muscle than 215 is a good weight. You don't need to worry about a number. Remember muscle weighs more than fat, so you may weigh more after you reach your goal look. If you like what you see than the number isn't a factor.

You also need to diet. Dieting is more important than working out. If you eat 4000 calories in a day than working out is just going to keep you from gaining anymore weight.

Your abs are the one muscle that you can work everyday. So work them! Split you body parts into days like Monday do back and biceps, Tuesday chest and triceps, Wednesday cardio, Thursday back and biceps again Friday chest and triceps again Then Saturday legs Sunday cardio (run, jog, bike, swim) any thing to get you to your target heart rate which would be about 114-170 BPM.

You have you body split into back and biceps, chest and triceps because most exercise that work your back work your biceps same with the other. There needs to be a rest period between each part to rebuild the muscle of couple days.

Start every work out with stretches and a warm up run. Don't want to pull or tear something as soon as you start.

Make it routine to go to the gym everyday if not everyday then Monday threw Friday.

Hope this helps. If you have more questions then just post them.
