Hello.

My Mum was adopted at a very young age, therefore I have never met or been given the chance to meet my biological grandparents. Please can you help me/give me advice as to how and where I could track them down?
At the moment I have no details as to what her biological parents names are, or whether they are on her birth certificate. It is a sensitive topic for her as her adoptive Mum died when she was only very young, so I have not met her either. I definitely do not want to upset her, but I'm very interested in my "hidden" other side of my family.

I'd like to point out that YOU have no access to check with the courts or adoption agency for letters from birthparents. ONLY your mother could have that access.

If this is a sore subject with her, then I advise you to just let it go. What will you do if you find your biological grandparents, hide that from her?

I've said this before, and I'll stand behind it: Unless there is a medical reason to do so, the ONLY people involved in searches should be the adoptee, adoptive parents, and biological parents. Anyone else is one step too far removed to have anything to do with what can ultimately a painful decision, with not-so-hoped-for results.

Of course, if you're determined, you can always hire a private investigator.
